The Company:
The company is a leading provider of renewable energy and sustainable technology solutions, helping businesses and homeowners reduce energy costs and carbon emissions. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the business from our Carlisle office.
The Role:
This is a part-time, permanent opportunity for a Finance Assistant to join our growing team in Carlisle. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, processing transactions, supporting reporting activities, and ensuring the smooth running of the finance function. Experience with payroll would be preferred for this role, as the role will expand and develop with the business and this is a key function.
This position would suit an organised and detail-oriented finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to the success of a growing business.
Finance Assistant Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate financial records, ledgers, and supporting documentation
- Process invoices, supplier payments, and employee expense claims
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Reconcile bank statements and investigate financial discrepancies
- Assist with payroll processing and employee expense reimbursements
- Prepare financial reports, summaries, and spreadsheets for management
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities
- Monitor budgets and track company expenditure
- Liaise with customers, contractors, suppliers, and internal departments regarding financial matters
- Maintain financial records using accounting software, including Xero
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal company policies
- Support external auditors by providing required documentation and information
Finance Assistant Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience as a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, Bookkeeper, or similar finance role
- Proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger processes
- Excellent organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage deadlines
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages, particularly Excel
- Relevant accounting or finance qualifications are desirable but not essential
- Positive, proactive attitude with a willingness to support the wider business
