Quality Assurance Engineer required for Award Winning Engineering Company in Workington on a permanent basis.

Our client operate from one of the largest workshops in the UK giving them the capability to offer some of the biggest steel and fabrication projects in the UK. They offer turnkey solutions including multidiscipline engineering design, manufacture, testing, installation and commissioning.

The Purpose of this role is to provide a service to the quality and environmental manager to provide customer confidence in the business processes and procedures and enable the retention of the BS EN ISO 9001/19443 series accreditation by.

  • Providing technical expertise and support to all departments
  • Supporting and implementing new processes into the organisation
Key Accountabilities are:
  • Control and organise QA activities.
  • Maximise throughput and achieve cost and delivery targets ensuring products comply with the design specification. 
  • To assist the Manager in monitoring production to minimise defective work thus helping to maximise and achieve quality targets.
  • To provide technical support for all metallurgical/material queries raised which affect product quality. 
  • To liaise with Customer’s representatives regarding documentation issues, which may affect product quality.
  • To maintain, review and update the documentation supporting the QA system.
  • To perform internal and external auditing as required.
  • To participate in 3rd party auditing as required.
  • To review and approve documentation for contracts, ensuring full traceability and auditability.
The ideal candidate willl have:
  • Knowledge of Quality assurance requirements and procedures – essential
  • Understanding of Nuclear industry specifications and requirements – desirable
  • Relevant Auditor qualification - Desirable
  • Problem solving & continual improvement techniques - %s -8D -5 Whys or isikawa – Desirable
Full time role working 36.5 hous per week. Salary to be discussed at application and interview stage but based on experience. Excellent benefits package on offer.
